Dunno if you've noticed, but if you click on any of the photo's you get to see a full screen version. Some of them don't come out with all their splendour, so I guess you'll have to wait till we get home for the full version. I am trying to set up a gallery on the bakerbiz web site, but don't hold your breath.
Once we got organised we ordered a length of shadecloth for the off-side of the van to help the fridge and keep it cool in the sun. Also arranged a service for the car. We got some big bore shockies fitted to the rear of the car to help get rid of the bounce when towing the van. Then we went to the RAAF Aviation Heritage Museum (The Home Of The B52). What a fantastic exhibit of world war II planes. Hard to explain how big a B52 is and the photos don't show it. Here's a wing.
On the way home from there we dropped in to Hidden Valley Raceway so I could take a photo of the gates, but guess what they were open, so we went for a drive in and found some loonies having practice at their drifting.
We spent about an hour there having a sticky beak at all the vehicles, and now I can say I actually walked through the pits of Hidden Valley Raceway.
Next day we took off to the Territory Wildlife Park. What an experience. It's fantastic. Best $40.00 we spent. The whole park is set in in a jungle like atmosphere and it took us 6 hours to see the whole thing. It is about 4 kms around the drive loop of the park by the free train but we walked most of it through the walking tracks and it is about 8-9 kms that way. They have all sorts of displays and interactive activities. I fed some whip rays and had a couple of the predator bids sitting on my hand.
The next day we went out to East Point to see the Darwin Military Museum. Another good tour! All sorts of history of when Darwin got bombed in WWII and lots of displays of the guns and armourment during the war.
Gee's, they got smacked up pretty good back then. Something like 64 bombing raids and 250 people killed. We never get to learn about all this in school (Piss poor, I must say of the schooling back in the olden days).
Then we took off to Fannie Bay Gaol for a look. Very disappointing. Just a bunch of tin and wire huts and a nice building (The Infirmary) in the middle.
A quick tour of the city and back to camp for the day, finished it off.
Tomorrow the car is going in for the service and Bridge Toyota will drop us off into town, so it's a shopping spree for Nanny.
When the car is finished, they will pick us up again. If there is time we will duck out to Humptydoo and have a sticky at the pub there.

Great stuff guys. Definately a lot to see and do in Darwin. Don't forget lunch on the wharf. And remember to take a wheelbarrow when you go to the markets so that nanny can shop up a storm!!
Pete you seem to have missed the WW2 oil tunnels/worth a look.
